Karlsson Collins use a process that creates a leather repair which looks natural and blends in so that the finished product is an interior in immaculate condition.

The revitalised leather is finished so that it matches the age of the vehicle or is finished to the owener's specific requirements; this process is generally known as "connolising". Connollising is a word used to describe restoration, refurbishment or repair work on leather and used to be done exclusively by Connolly Brothers of Wimbledon.

Modern finishing techniques to match look of new or aged leather

The leather refinishing processes used by Karlsson Collins are based on the original Connolly Brothers techniques but use modern finishing products. The use of a more modern finishing product allows us to either replicate the colour of the leather when new or to match the existing aged leather for a finish commensurate with the age and condition of the vehicle. Leather restoration and refinishing process

1. Clean all of the leather surfaces to remove grease, wax, ingrained dirt, etc.
2. Inspect leather to identify any damaged areas requiring repairs.
3. Break down the original coating, which makes the leather more able to bond with the new pigment dye.
4. Splits, cracks, holes and any other faults in the leather are then repaired.
5. Leather pigment is applied to the leather by hand and blended using a final air-brush spray coating.
6. The refinished/connolised leather is then sealed using lacquers which are tinted and mixed to create a new, aged or gloss/matt finish depending on the client's preference.
